There are some amazing new talents that are emerging through the likes of Pride in London. These guys and gals have developed acts that are very entertaining and some of them will definitely be ‘on the scene’ within the next year or two. I photographed these folk performing this week in the pubs like The Two Brewers (Clapham), the Bloc Bar (Camden) and the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. Look out for them both in the final and also at Pride itself.

There are some people who reckon the only place to live is London and invariably trot out that overused Samuel Johnson quote to back up their argument. Given the economics of living in today’s London I’m not convinced about that one, and it’s only when I visit other places that I realise that the quality of life is also very significantly better elsewhere. The other day I was prowling round Bordeaux late in the evening, like you do, after work with my camera getting some night views of the city. From a safety perspective this could be questionable but I could feel the friendly vibe of this city and felt pretty safe there. This led to this all night traipse around the banks of the river between the bridges with my camera and tripod. During the evening I talked to a number of young guys at different times, all interested in the photo-taking. In this instance, I was just concentrating on a street shot using the ambient light when I was approached by this friendly chap who stopped to chat. Then in a second he posed and I clicked. It just happened – and this is him. Bordeaux is a pretty city well worth a few days of your time – with friendly locals, and very drinkable wine. So what are you waiting for?
Lately I have been involved with a lot of video editing – mainly documentary of various sorts, which is why you haven’t seen so much from me. However I am also involved with the Wig Party and help promote it with my camera. This year The Wig Party is raising funds in association with The Elton John Aids Foundation for ‘Freedom To Be’. This excellent cause is raising funds for young people (teenagers) with HIV. The Wig Party itself is an extraordinary event and if you go to just one big party this year make it this one. It’s glamorous, fun, and freeing- you can be anyone you like for the night. It attracts a lively creative crowd of all ages, genders and colours and there is a wig pageant for those that have always wanted to do the catwalk. Here I attach some photos taken last night at Kings Cross Steelers RFC where the lads sportingly donned wigs to help us promote this cause. Expect to see a few of them at the party…

Some people reckon that one’s wedding day should be unforgettable…
For one couple it most certainly was. The day arrived and after weeks of rain and storms one could indeed breathe a sigh of relief as the sun shone in the relatively calm and upmarket neighbourhood of Lincolns Inn Fields. The chauffeur arrived in the gorgeous vintage Roller and lets face facts, the couple looked good. So what now could possibly go wrong? What?
Ah yes; choosing to get married in style the very same day the World Naked Bike Ride descends on the square and takes over! The couple stared out of the luxurious gas guzzling limo’s windows askance at the naked, wigged, painted, pierced, and tattooed people that now surrounded them on their bikes, unicycles, and skates all protesting about the worlds reliance on oil. Where they might have liked to wave at the general wellwishers, they got an eyeful of crossbars and genitals, – and why not? They’ll never forget their wedding day. To be perfectly frank they missed a photo opportunity and a half – if they had got out and walked amongst the crowd they could have had some lovely pics for the mother in law’s mantelpiece.….so where was that wedding photographer????

I have been travelling about a fair bit over the last week or two. Having returned from Cyprus I was then off to the Channel Islands to photograph and film the Rumblemania Wrestling events in Guernsey and Jersey. Here are some photos from the event at Fort Regent in Jersey.
OMG! Last week I ended up at the premiere for the new film “Deviation” starring Danny Dyer. I wasn’t attending the premiere but taking photos of those who were. It had been suggested to me that I might like to be there and I thought it may be interesting, but it is a strange feeling photographing people going into a party you’re not invited to.
I stood with the other photographers who obviously knew this job rather better than I did. And they also knew the faces that were walking through the doors to the Odeon. Therein lay the problem- I am not a big celebrity watcher and as it turned out I knew very few of those at the premiere. Very few indeed.
Danny Dyer and Tamer Hassan did the rounds and chatted to us a couple of times, and they spent time with the public who had arrived to see them in the cold of a February night.
However it was the paparazzi that caught my eye (last photo). This motley crew of diehards in various states of dress looked like villains from a Guy Ritchie movie. And it was ironic that these real characters were taking pictures of people paid to be characters in another world.
Seeking one male model and one female model for this Thursday: We are videoing behind the scenes at UniQ Studios in East London for the new promo vid. Expect to look hot after Jae does the makeup. It will take an hour or two of your time so if you are at a loose end let me know. (It isn’t paid but you’ll look good and you’ll get a video for your model profiles).
Last week the preparations for the Wig Party stepped up a gear with the boys and girls getting into their Gods and Monsters wigs and stepping out on the streets of Soho to let everyone know about it. It is a celebration of individuality, self-expression, tolerance and, not forgetting, really big hair! It is a night where people from all walks of life, from all over the world can enjoy themselves, by being themselves. And for that reason, anyone is welcome at Wig Party
An inspirational PARTY devoted to improving the world for those living with HIV and AIDS.
In the backstreets of Venice I heard this shouting and looked down on the gondola coming up the canal to see these lads waving. I pointed the camera quickly and they responded in kind. Somewhere in the world a photo of me taking this photo resides…
